Anna Maslenova

Anna Maslenova is a Postgraduate Research Student on the ERC-funded research project: ‘The Dark Side of Translation’ at the University of Exeter. Her academic interests lie in the field of Russian texts translated into English at the end of the 19th century through to the beginning of the 20th century. She investigates the microhistories of mediators between the Russian and English-speaking worlds who aimed to make the works of Russian literary figures fathomable to the English-speaking readership. Anna works not only with the translations of Russian fiction but also of Russian philosophical and scriptural texts which were often translated by the same people and, therefore, cannot be ignored when considering these mediators’ contribution to Anglo-Russian cultural exchange.
